Greetings and Salutations old and new subscribers, of which there are about twenty of you! This is all thanks to Jenny Poyer Ackerman for having me as a guest on her podcast, UnMuted. What a shit-ton of fun I have gabbing with smart peeps who GET IT. If you haven’t already, please to listen here. Special mention for sound engineering, a.k.a. making the recording possible, goes to none other than Mr. Miller, shown below. Thanks Honey! You gotta give the guy credit. Despite the tremendous upheaval of the past couple years, he is standing by me.

The last performance of Miss Miller’s high school play—the last performance of her high school career—was yesterday. She shone again, inhabiting her character, commanding the stage, raging at injustice and stirring up trouble like a good Greaser should, despite the fact that during Friday night’s performance she suffered a sliiiight mishap: when Cherry went to splash Coke in Dally’s face, the bottle connected with my daughter’s mouth—she plays Dally—and broke one of her front teeth. She called me shaken from backstage—can’t blame her—and once we determined that the injury did not expose a nerve—thank God—she went on with the show in true thespian form. Now the lawsuit. Kidding! If I were litigious I would have sued in 2022.
Frankly I’d rather Miss Miller lose half a tooth than both her breasts or her fertility the way some of her theatre buds are in the process of doing as I write this post. In other words, perspective. Priorities. And! It’s a good thing she didn’t lose an eye. Which means #gratitude.
Talk about living on the edge.
Tomorrow we visit the dentist. And that’s the tooth. Ruth.
Until next week, Dear Reader.

Yes, talking to people who GET this f%^*#@! nightmare is all I have patience for.
Oh dear - I had this happen playing sports. No nerve exposed thankfully avoids immediate pain, but if the pulp is exposed Miss Miller may still end up with a root canal, veneer or crown in her future. We are lucky to be healthy, and maybe a small - though potentially expensive - health issue like this will help Miss Miller appreciate that.
