I saw this Cybertruck at a party on Sunday. I asked a friend if he knew whose it was.
“I don’t know but whoever it is, they’re forever tied to MAGA now.” He shook his head despairingly, pitying whatever poor dupe would shell out a hundred grand for a quasi Trump truck.
It is ubiquitous, this blue cloud of Trump derangement. Especially in my area.
Some days I really do want to just blow it up by speaking up.
“I’m MAGA and proud of it, and happy to talk about it whenever you want,” I’d say. But I despise being gaslit, manipulated, mocked and disrespected. I’m too old and tired for that. Been there, done that.
Mr Miller was standing right there, witnessing the exchange. I wondered if he sympathized with the isolation I now experience, to know that almost everyone we socialize with despise my views. Not that they actually know what my views are. They just assume. They have no idea, really. We’re all cartoon characters to them. And that’s why my husband glitches every time he remembers that his dear wife of almost thirty years now supports that man.
One of my new conservative lady friends shared a doozy of a TDS example just yesterday. Someone in our area is mailing letters to Trump supporters in a bizarre plea to change their vote.
The heading displays a lawn sign image that reads Trump 2024; Save America Again! The footer includes a Gadsen-adjacent symbol with the tagline, Don’t Tread on Me; Live Free or Die.
The letter reads, and here I’ve transcribed it verbatim, preserving and cherishing all the grammatical and spelling errors:
Dear Neighbor
A quick note of thanks for being engaged in the election and for your participation in the process.
We are writing with a concern about the level of political violence in the country during this election year as well as the threats to our democracy and freedoms. So we are asking you to take a close look at the truth, facts and the future for a better America where we can all live in harmony together.
Your candidate is a felon, rapist, desecrator, an immoral flawed man. He is major reason violence us up, remember January 6th and Charlottesville? By supporting him you are declaring your public support for a disregard of the law, civil discourse and unity. You are indicating your hatred for minorities, immigrants, foreigners, women, education, the rights of your fellow citizens, the rights of women to make decisions over their own healthcare needs. Oh and yes a hatred for Taylor Swift, who has contributed nothing but joy to the world. And you are entitled to all of this. However this is a reminder that your visible support comes with a price and at a cost. There will be consequences.
Should your candidate win, the consequences will be staggering. The country will continue to be divided, the economy will falter and a recession will be accelerated, the deficit ballooned. The majority will live under the rule of a minority. Government will be in my business, the business of my family, the deficit will grow. The rich will get richer and judging by your house you don’t qualify for rich, as much as you think you may. But more importantly we know where you live, you are in the data base. In the dead of a cold winters night, this year, or next and beyond, there is no knowing what may happen. Your property, your family may be impacted, your cat may get shot. And more.
Spend some time with your rabbi, pastor or what ever religion you follow and dig into the meaning of morality and reconcile the hate with your maker. Face the truth and understand the facts. Stop being lazy. Question your commitment to a cult. He is the biggest threat to the country and does not understand the idea of America as defined by George Washington by the founding fathers.
Your vote for this guy is seen as treading on my rights. You tread on me at your peril, motherfucker.
We look forward to visiting in the future.
Sincerely
Patriotic citizen and a true American
Acting to “Save America” from the GOP and existential threat.
The police have been alerted and according to my source, are trying to figure out how widespread it is.
The letter’s hypocrisies line up like kindergarteners for recess in an underfunded public school, crowding the doorway, chaos and dysfunction laid bare and obscene. If this letter were porn, it’d be triple X.
Okay I just wrote kindergartners and porn in the same sentence. My bad. But I’ll probably gain a whole new following now. Pedos beware, you ain’t welcome here. Oh is that you Timmy Walz?
(Audience laughter)
This letter makes me want to start podcasting. I’d love to dive into a passionate dissection of this drooling insanity with a like-minded Trump supporting friend. Any takers?
And finally, comment below, including on the veracity of Matthew Metro accusation. I’m undecided there.

That letter is scary and of course not meant to change minds but intimidate.

That's my favorite part. It's a master class in projection. The writer describes the state of the country now, as a result of Biden's policies, and what it will continue to be if Harris wins.
Oh yeah, and how dare Trumpists smear the reputation of Taylor Swift. Maybe that's my real favorite part.
