Ahhh, ze five star generals… yeah, the people whose actual career is making sure that we’re involved in as many wars as possible…yeah, those guys are totally objective.
Sheesh — what kind of leftist would serve VEAL? If ze dude is serious about climate change, he should only serve local vegan meals (and take the bus, which — in LA — will give him a whole education!). Ze climate is crying for ze bébé cows.
And if Pierre is so into DEI (but only for black people — none of those “White-adjacent” Asians!) why, pray tell, didn’t he give up his cooking gig to a black (*qualified) chef? There are tons of black celebrity chefs in LA.
Ah mais oui to be fair Pierre did not come up with the menu and made a point to say he would not have served ze veal. He prefers les poissons but of course.
Populism is about the needs of the populace and as such is always driven by the populace. Because The.People.Are.The.Country. That is the entire point of the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. So anybody who says populists do not care about the country are exhibiting a tell - they prioritize control of the people over the will of the people.
You are a treasure and a glitter bomb at the same time!!!
All kidding aside, there's something of you that resonates with me... that part that likes to argue. I have that gene too. That cannot let a lie, a stupid comment, or an ignorant comment float by unacknowledged.
That's a problem for me caring for my mother who now lives with us, as her slow slip into dementia drags inexorably on. And daily says things that just make me want to rip my hair out. Conflation of past events, incorrect or inaccurate words, passive aggressiveness.
Correcting leads to her internal embarrassment and shame and some type of behavior like those with the woke virus. Very odd. And damages the peace in our home. Which leads to more isolation and more issues. I've told my husband that I want her last years to be happy ones. Not ones filled with constant reminders of her failings.
It is exhausting. But it's the life we chose.
So glad to hear counseling went well. There should be a great deal of self reflection going on in your home over the next months. Growth and change is always so painful.
Have faith in each other. Find common threads and weave a way back to wholeness. Hugs 🤗
Please allow me to "Mrs. Miller" you and inform you that there is no safe vaccine on the planet, not a one has been properly safety tested, and it is likely that these have all been a scam from day one (late 1800s). They contain heavy metals, Polysorbate 80, formaldehyde and a host of other poison that are injected straight into you child's bloodstream. And here's the kicker--there's not a single study in existence proving that they work. And that's the bland version of the history.
Can I bring you along with me on my day-to-day life for a week or so?! I haaaaate arguments and confrontations. And I have a lousy memory. You're so good at this!
I'm catching up on my reading because, like you, I have a side hustle. Every year I join a ragtag group to decorate Carnival cruise ships for Christmas. It's a good, easy gig that pays well. But after 7 ships plus doing my regular job, I'm exhausted.
There is a woman in the cruise ship group who is one of the leaders, and I like her. She's around my age, 6', straight and engaged to a 6' 4" tall dude, drives trucks for a living and owns six motorcycles, has lived through cancer, and has a million stories about previous jobs. At lunch one day she told a story about a cooking/childcare gig for a rich family many years ago. They were going to throw out some kids' clothes so she took them to a family she knows that could use them. One of the two girls in the family was a 'girly girl' and loved all the dresses and girly stuff. The other girl was a tomboy and shrugged when she saw the clothes. The woman telling the story went on to say how the 'tomboy' girl went on to have 'top surgery' and is now 'living as a man'. She ended the story of the two sisters by saying, "I've known them since they were kids, so it's neat to see how they grew up."
'Neat'.
This girl had her breasts removed and thinks she's a man and she thinks it's 'neat'.
Why are people like this?! It's so bizarre to me. I wanted to speak up and ask some pointed questions, but I felt like it wasn't the time or place. Like I said, she is one of the leaders. I need this gig (not for extra spending money, but just to catch up on bills--thanks, Biden) so I can't jeopardize losing it. (I've seen some people get dismissed and replaced.)
One of the things that occurred to me is that she knows I'm gay so in her mind she's sharing this story as evidence that she supports 'the LGBTQIA+ community'. A very frustrating thing that happens frequently. Meanwhile, that tomboy girl is proooooobably a lesbian and led down this anti-gay trans path.
You have a good enough memory that's for sure but you can still take me with you. I want to join your ragtag team! And it's so great to see you again!! 💖💖💖
If only Mr. Sowell were a bit younger and able to share his insights with the world on the grander scale that they deserve. I recently discovered his work and was like, whoa.
This is such a lovely gem of a piece and felt as if I were there.
So happy to hear things are picking up for you!! 🦅🫎(that’s a Moose)
I was like when they turn the lobster emoji brown? Thank you for clearing up that mystery. And thank you for the kind words. I wish we could insure Tom Sowell outlives us all. Or like you said, make him younger again. His 80s look alone would get left wingers to pay attention.
Of course you know The Conchords!! Your next assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to design a post around their song, Too Many Dicks on the Dancefloor.
Congrats on all the new subscribers! So fun and satisfying. You deserve every one.
Also, this was wonderfully entertaining (as usual). I applaud your effort to convince ze Frenchman that he is misled. Guess he'll have to discover it on his own when he bumps into some sharp edge of the dogma and his certainty is sliced open. Oh, the pain—and the growth!
In the meantime, I just have to say it's serendipitous and reassuring you brought up the Olympics because I'm just putting the finishing touches on my weekly post and the gender-benders factor in strongly—so much that I was wondering if readers will think I'm nuts to carp on such "old" offenses. But now I feel more confident knowing I'm not the only one who still has Things To Say about that debacle. We shall see, come Sunday.🤞🏻
Lastly, Yes, please!! on your book deal! I really wanted to read it (looked it up on Amazon) and was going to ask if you planned to print any more, cuz I'm trying to steer away from Kindle where possible and get back to honest-to-goodness IRL books. So happy to know it's available! Thanks for the offer.🙏🏻❤
I thoroughly enjoyed this! I wish I could pay for a subscription and get a book -- but having been exiled from one Wokademic Institution, I'm counting pennies to ride the subway. Could you share the titles?
I'm sure that there's fodder for more conversations like this. I have a passion for them, actually. I have a huge bag of utterly illogical conversations to unload on Substack when I can get around to it. Reiterating conversations was going to be my Substack schtick, but time at the moment must be invested elsewhere.
In the meantime -- hope you don't mind -- here's an episode. This particular friend and I parted ways for a while after she got angry with me for saying that a lot of American food seems designed to make you eat more and never feel full, which, I posited (while puffing on a joint outside the bathhouse in Palisades Park) is a perfect metaphor for our society. Why that upset her, I have no idea....we rode back to Port Authority in separate seats and didn't speak for years until I learned she was treated for cancer and extended an olive branch. Now I avoid discussing anything political with her. A common response, cited in the account on this link -- is that she doesn't need to read in order to know things. I hope you don't mind my posting this here. No obligation to read it.

Alors! I like your take on ze generals!
And tres hilarious re DEI!
Bravo!

love this. This is the first time the populist argument arose for me. really glad you came to explain the absurdity of it. Thank you Lynne!

Hugs back at ya and thank you. I don't know if you read about me and my mom but our relationships sound hella similar.
Not yet. I followed you from Josh Slocum's channel, I believe. And I'm also trying to scale back a bit. SS is a tad addictive.
I hear that.

Excellent topic for further discussion and investigation. Thanks for highlighting it here.
I’m pushing back to tell you to visit some old graveyards and see how many infant deaths there used to be. The anti vax stuff is no hill to die on.

Extremely bummed that link didn’t work. I will search.
It's just a a pic of him looking mighty dapper

I might have to do that 🍆🤠
He must have missed the appointment of Scott Turner for HUD.
We both did. If only I'd been paying closer attention. C'est la vie
